I thought I’d post a picture of what I wear on non-work days, for a change. Although this isn’t quite typical, as lately I’ve been wearing skirts over leggings more often than jeans; I wanted to wear the cat print shirt, though, and that’s definitely better with jeans.

I know a lot of people think of their weekend clothes as their ‘real’ clothes, with work clothes just a kind of uniform that they wear during the week, very much like school uniform used to be. I think I felt that way once, but I spend so much more time in work clothes (and so much more money and attention on them) than I do in casual clothes that these days I’m not so sure. Jeans, in particular, have become the things I put on to potter round the house in. Putting them in an outfit photo feels only one step removed from pyjamas, not quite dressed, and looking at the photo I don’t quite feel I look like me when I’m so used to pictures of myself in skirts and dresses instead. Hence, I suppose, the tendency to wear skirts at weekends as well…

  1. I know exactly what you mean. I do most of my sewing for “work wear”, so when it comes to weekends I have a bit of an issue if I actually have to leave the house and be seen in public! You look really happy in this outfit – it must be the cats and the purple! :D

    • I did realise quite recently that the things I used to wear to work in my last, less smart, job make pretty good presentable-casual outfits, so I’m OK until those wear out!
